Compensation: £42,000 - £54,000

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

  • Acting as the Analytical Lead on customer projects and taking personal responsibility for the quality, integrity, communication, and delivery of analytical science on your projects, and maintaining strong relationships with customers
  • Developing and integrating new capabilities from your first principle knowledge and the latest industry and academic thinking to advance the scientific capabilities deployed for our customers
  • Development and validation of analytical methods for peptides (such as LC/GC-MS) and novel solutions that meet our customer expectations and timelines
  • Application of digital tools and approaches to deliver fast and efficient process understanding for our clients
  • Leading initiatives to improve the analytical team's expertise in advanced methodologies, fostering a culture of continuous learning and innovation. Including mentoring and coaching junior and mid-level scientists
  • Leads safety standards in the laboratory in own work and compliance of team with safety principles, acts as a role model

Knowledge and Skills

Essential

  • An ambitious team player who can conduct themselves in a polite, respectable, and professional manner when dealing with others
  • Industrial experience in pharmaceutical analytical chemistry of 5+ years and a scientifically relevant PhD or alternatively 8+ years industrial experience post-masters/bachelors
  • Broad, hands-on experience in peptide analysis and purification
  • Experience in the use of techniques for the analytical characterisation of peptides including HPLC, NMR and Mass Spectrometry
  • A commitment to safe working practices
  • Ability to formulate and execute an experimental work plan
  • Highly organised with an ability to manage multiple projects running in parallel
  • A demonstrable ability to problem solve, to innovate, and to think laterally
  • An ability to work independently, as part of a team, or across multidisciplinary cross-functional teams
  • An ability to forge new collaborative partnerships and to work alongside third parties

Desirable:

  • Familiarity with GLP, GMP and/or GCLP
  • Past experience in the conjugation of peptides to other biomolecules
  • Biophysical analysis of peptides and/or proteins
  • Expertise in oligonucleotides and/or PNA
  • Experience with high-throughput assays and functional assays of peptides/proteins
  • Experience working with peptide/protein array technologies
  • Experience working with robotics and automation pipelines
